Banks hold rates at record low.

The Monetary Policy Committee(MPC) held interest rates at their 0.5% record low and gave no boost to the quantitative easing programme.

There are a lot of signs of recovery, like the continued improving of the housing market and the stock markets rising to the highest level since almost one year.

However, according to the MPC, the effects of quantitative easing will take some time to filter through.
